Featured Track: Andrea von Kampen “Rivers”

By Real Sounds

After touring with The Tallest Man on Earth, Andrea von Kampen carries one of his songs into her own set with a quietly absorbing, single-take rendition.

Andrea von Kampen has released a new version of “Rivers”, the 2016 song by The Tallest Man on Earth, reducing it to voice, acoustic guitar and the feeling of a song held close.

About the track

Released on 25 June, von Kampen’s “Rivers” grew out of her time supporting The Tallest Man on Earth on his 2023 North American tour. In Sedate Bookings’ announcement , she remembers how the music lingered after the shows: “So many of those songs stayed with me. I knew Rivers was one I wanted to carry into my own set.”

That closeness is audible. Recorded live in a single take with only voice and guitar, her version does not crowd the song’s images of distance, leaving and need. The arrangement stays still enough for every hesitation in her phrasing to register.

Watch “Rivers” live

Andrea’s official performance video places the song in its natural setting: a live voice-and-guitar performance, unhurried and close enough for the arrangement’s small shifts to matter.

Songs and stories on tour

In our recent interview with Andrea von Kampen , she described the UK dates as an “evening with” format, bringing together songs and stories from across her records. A cover carried forward from the road feels at home in that catalogue-spanning set.
